Krissy Miller, a 49-year-old mother of four, was enjoying a hike on Y Mountain above Brigham Young University when she crossed paths with Shiller Joseph in September 2023. During their conversation, Joseph opened up about his battle with lupus, a chronic autoimmune disease that affects his kidneys. He revealed that he was on the kidney transplant waiting list, hoping for a life-saving donation.
